The town of Banya is located in beautiful “Rose Valley” (central Bulgaria), surrounded by “Stara Planina” and “Sredna gora” mountains. “Stryama” river is passing nearby, making it a nice spot for a picnic, fishing or just a relaxing walk. Beautiful countryside, swimming pools with mineral water, fantastic climate. The town has it all. The resort is famous with its mineral springs and medical mineral peat mud curing different diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, the Behterev’s disease, arthritis and arthrosis, radiculitis, neuritis, plexitis and discal hernia, hypertonia, inflammatory gynaecological diseases and sterility. It is a pleasant place for a holiday all year round. In 1968 Banya was declared a National Balneology Resort. The climate is transcontinental with Mediterranean influence. Winter is mild and summer is comparatively cool. It is the perfect place for rehabilitation and medical treatment. In 1927 former king of Bulgaria Boris III visited the resort for a treatment. Fully satisfied with the results of the treatment, he built in the resort his summerhouse, lovingly called by the locals “The Palace”. There is also a “King bath” in the resort. From Sofia: The international airport is about 150 km from Banya. You can hire a car. Just follow the sign to Plovdiv (about 100 km from Sofia) and then follow the sign to Karlovo. Banya is about 50 km from Plovdiv. We can also pick you up from the airport (40 euro per car). From Sofia: There is a bus line Sofia – Kazanluk, which stops at Banya. You can catch the bus from the Central Bus station. It takes about 2 hours to get there. From Plovdiv: There is a bus line Plovdiv – Karlovo, which stops at Banya. You can catch the bus from Bus station: Yug. The bus departs every hour from 7 a.m. till 8 p.m. It takes about an hour to get there. From Sofia: You can catch the train to Karlovo and then another train to Banya or get the train to Plovdiv and then another train to Banya.
